Dividing Matrices
Dividing Matrices Dividing matrices cannot do directly as usual division. Dividing matrices is similar to dividing mixed fractions. As we are doing in dividing mixed fractions find the inverse of divisor matrix and multiply with the matrix in the numerator. If A and B are two matrix then A/B = A (1/B) = A B-1.B-1 is the inverse of B. Actually we dont divide the matrix; it can be done by multiplying with the inverse of matrix. The following examples help you to understand the division of matrices. Example 2: Explain the steps involved in matrix division. Solution: Let us assume two matrixes are A and B To divide two matrix B/A We cannot divide the matrix directly To divide matrix B/A, first find out inverse of A And then multiply with matrix B. The inverse of A can be found by swapping the position of matrix and divide everything by the determinant. After finding the inverse of matrix B, multiply with matrix A. While multiplying matrix we need to do the dot product of rows and columns. The final matrix is division of B/A.

Online Square Root Graph Tutors
Online Square Root Graph Tutors Square root function is a function which is expressed under the radical sign . Square root of a function or an expression means that it is raised to an exponent of 1/2. Square root functions can be graphed on an X-Y coordinate plane and we can also find the domain and range of the given function. To graph a square root function, we can plug-in numbers in the place of the variable x and find the function or the y value for those numbers and plot the points on the plane. Example 1: Graph the square root function, y = x. The function, f(x) = x is also called as the parent function since other square root functions are derived from it. Let x = 0, then y = 0= 0. Coordinate point is (0, 0) Let x= 1, then y= 1 = 1. Coordinate point is (1, 1) Let x= 2, then y= 2= 1.41. Coordinate point is (2, 1.41) Let x = 3, then y= 3= 1.73. Coordinate point is (3, 1.73) The graph looks as shown when the above points are plotted Example 2: Graph the square root function, y = (x 1). Since the function is (x 1), hence the graph of y = x shifts 1 unit to the right. Let x= 1then y= (1- 1)= 0.Coordinate point is (1, 0) Let x= 2, then y= (2- 1) = 1. Coordinate point is (2, 1) Let x= 3, then y= (3- 1)= 1.41. Coordinate point is (3, 1.41) Let x= 4, then y= (4- 1)= 1.73. Coordinate point is (4, 1.73) The graph looks as shown when the above points are plotted.

4 Reasons for Pursuing an Online Degree for Career Advancement - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / 4 Reasons for Pursuing an Online Degree for Career Advancement - Introvert Whisperer 4 Reasons for Pursuing an Online Degree for Career Advancement Professional development has become increasingly important in todayâs highly competitive job market. In order to be considered for promotions and better jobs, candidates must demonstrate the willingness to sharpen their skillset. The most common method of advancing your career is to get a degree. Whether that is a bachelorâs degree to become a full-time associate or a graduate degree to move up the management ladder, a degree has been shown to lead to more career options and higher salaries. The problem for working professionals is finding the time to complete a degree while still balancing a full-time job. Scheduling on-campus classes around your busy work schedule can be exhausting. One increasingly common degree path for working professionals is enrolling in an online degree program. Online degrees allow you to pursue higher education while working full time. Here are four of the biggest benefits of using an online degree to advance your career: #1: Donât Put Your Career on Hold The biggest benefit of an online degree is that it allows you the opportunity to continue working while pursuing a degree. Most on-campus degree programs have a considerable time commitment that forces most students to either dial back their time at work or put their career on hold completely. This can lead to losing valuable work experience and income. In contrast, online programs today are often designed with the needs of the working professional in mind. In some instances, your employer may even offer tuition assistance for a degree program. Taking online classes while working can also give you the opportunity to apply the skills youâve learned in your coursework to the workplace immediately. #2: Flexibility and Convenience An online degree can offer a degree of flexibility that on-campus degree programs simply cannot match. Most online programs are asynchronous, which means that the classes are self-paced. The advantage here is that you can access course lessons and materials whenever you have free time. While you may be completing lessons after work hours, the asynchronous format of online classes frees you up to perhaps read a lesson before work, or use your lunch break to complete an assignment. This can help to maintain free time after a long day at work. Taking classes on campus while working full time limits you to night classes. Night classes can under-utilize the small pockets of free time that you have during a typical workday. #3: Customizable Learning Environment Another huge benefit of online education is the ability to customize your learning environment. With an on-campus degree program, you are most likely going to be in a classroom for the majority of your courses. With an online degree program, you can choose where you learn. Some people thrive in a comfortable, relaxing environment while others may prefer a more traditional workspace. Many people work best away from home, and coffee shops and libraries often offer wireless internet which would allow you to access course materials there. Whatever your preference is, the key to a productive learning environment is to balance comfortability with the ability to stay focused. #4: Perfect for Introverted Professionals Online degrees can also offer a less threatening classroom environment. There are many professionals looking to advance their career, who have a more introverted personality, that are not comfortable participating in class discussions that are commonplace in on-campus degree programs. This is where an online degree can be a good fit. With the online course format, most of the interaction with your professors and classmates is through the web. Discussion boards are one of the most common methods of sparking the class discussion. This is a much more comfortable method of participating in class for introverts. This less threatening environment can allow you to come out of your shell and enrich your learning experience without the fear of participating. It is clear that getting a degree can be a pivotal stepping stone for advancing your career. Online degrees have become increasingly more viable and respected in the business world. The flexibility and convenience of these degree programs allowing professionals the opportunity to work full time while pursuing a degree is something that simply cannot be matched by on-campus degree programs. This coupled with the ability to customize your learning environment and the limited face-to-face interaction means that online degree programs can be a fit for all personality types. Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences What to Ask
Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences What to Ask Middle school can feel like an entirely different beast from elementary school, with teachers for every subject, a larger school, and often more extracurricular opportunities not to mention the major personal growth your child is going through! Weve already gone over what to ask at high school parent-teacher conferences, but here are some topics to go over when you meet with your childs teachers for middle school parent-teacher conferences: 1. Your childs academic progress One of the most important topics youll cover is your childs academic progress, including both strengths and weaknesses. Youve made your own observations at home and from what your child has told you but the teachers perspective can help round out your own. What are specific concepts, units, or learning styles has your child has taken to? In which areas does your child struggle? The teacher can articulate academic accomplishments and challenges in a different way than your child might. 2. Grade-level expectations Ask the teacher how your child fares according to grade-level expectations. This is extremely helpful if your child is thinking about taking accelerated classes, like honors, and potentially AP and IB courses later on in high school. Similarly, does your child need additional support to reach grade-level goals, like summer school or after-school help? Talking with the teacher about grade-level expectations can be very useful in seeing where your child can direct his or her attention academically, but remember that grade-level goals arent necessarily the end-all be-all. Simply use them as a guideline and pay attention to all factors. 3. Class policies Every teacher has a different way to run his or her classroom, with some overlaps with other instructors in the school. Discuss this teachers classroom policies, as well as classroom norms. You might also ask if there are any opportunities to make up tests or extend due dates if your child is absent, for instance as well as what the major components are of your childs overall grade in the class. Especially when your child is transitioning to middle school (with up to seven teachers a day versus just one or two!), having this conversation can help you and your child implement and organize specific study strategies for each subject. 4. Assessments and long-term projects Middle school assessments can feel more serious (and they often are!) compared to elementary school projects and tests. Ask the teacher how your child will be assessed and given percentages or letter grades. In what ways will your child be asked to demonstrate his or her growing knowledge? Will there be any long-term projects, like a science fair, research papers, or lengthy writing assignments with bigger timelines that would benefit from being broken down into more manageable parts? Knowing about these ahead of time is helpful so you can support your middle schooler at home. 5. Tips and resources End the conversation by going over what you or your child can do outside the classroom to make this middle school experience more successful. The teacher will likely be able to offer study tips that have worked for past students, as well as outside resources, including book recommendations, online learning tools, or events in the community that might be of interest to your child. Depending on how your childs particular middle school works, you may not get scheduled opportunities to meet with every single teacher your child sits with during the school day. Instead, you may just meet with a homeroom teacher or a teacher in one of your childs major subjects. If youd like an additional meeting with a specific teacher or have a specific concern, email or call the school to set up an appointment with him or her. Any topics you want to know more about? Algebra Questions
Algebra Questions Algebra is the main branch of Mathematics which involves the relationship of numbers and the variables. There are different types of topics covered under Algebra. They are quadratic equations, linear equations in one or more variables, logarithmic and exponential functions, fractions etc. We use different types of formulas to solve the algebra questions. The algebra questions can be solved in an easy way by simply applying the formulas that are given to us. Following are some of the examples which are based on this concept. Example 1: John worked 22 hours this week and made $132. If he works 15 hours next week at the same pay rate. How much will he make? Solution: Number of hours John worked in First week = 22 hours Number of dollars made in first week = 132 dollars Pay rate = Money gained/ Working hours = 132/22 = 6 Dollars per hour Number of hours John worked in the next week = 15 hours The Amount of money made by John = (Number of working hours) times (Pay rate) = (15) times (6) = $90. Example 2: Alma wants to invest $4,000 at 6% simple interest rate for 5 years. How much interest will she receive? Solution: The amount = P = $4000 R = 6 % T = 5 years We have a formula to find the simple interest that is Simple interest = PRT/100 Now we can plug the values into this formula Simple interest = 4000 * 6 * 5/100 = $1200
Mastering Your MCAT Prep Consistency is Key
Mastering Your MCAT Prep Consistency is Key MCAT Medical School Admissions In my years as a scientist, I have found that in a world as diverse and unpredictable as our own, it is paramount to remain consistent in the ways we study the world and conduct experiments. Good studies need to have control groups that do not receive treatment and reflect the status quo. Likewise, when preparing to battle the beast that is the MCAT, consistency is key. While the ideas below are broadly relevant to any type of standardized exam, they are particularly important when preparing for the MCAT. Why? Because the MCAT requires memorization of so many facts across multiple subject areas, understanding of a broad range of concepts, and the ability to focus to apply these facts and concepts to correctly answer difficult questions. The GMAT by contrast, a test taken for admission to graduate business school, requires absolutely no knowledge of business subjects at all. Here are a few factors to consider keeping consistent when preparing for the MCAT. Do you use caffeine regularly? Do you always have a cup or two of coffee and ride that caffeine buzz while youâve been studying over the last 1-3 months? If yes, you should try your best to avoid making any drastic changes (and thus, your physiology) leading up to your exam. If youâre always stimulated with caffeine or other stimulants while studying, you want to make sure youâve recreated those same conditions on test day. Your brain actually stores the information youâre learning in a fashion where recall is easier if you are able to reproduce that same state of mind. Therefore, try not to start or discontinue use of caffeine before the exam. What is your posture/position like when you study? Are you someone that likes to sit in your bed and study? How study about lying down? Perhaps you regularly study in a hammock out on the beach by the oceanâ¦If yes, youâll probably want to change your study strategy for several reasons. As you may know, you will be sitting down, in a chair, at a desk and in front of a computer on test day. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, sitting with good posture is important! It really allows your whole body to function better as well as offers the psychological benefit of feeling more powerful, confident and strong as opposed to slouching. Confidence is another key element to success that we will discuss is another article. What does it sound like where you study? The exam room will be quiet with the option of putting on noise cancelling headphones. Try not to listen to music when youâre taking practice tests and in the month or so leading up to the exam. Do your best to try and find a quiet place to study. While this may be challenging for some people, there are significant benefits. If you do choose to listen to music earlier on, classical music has been shown to be beneficial for the mind when learning math and science. How are you taking your practice MCAT tests? Take all practice MCAT exams (the best thing for you is to take as many of these as humanly possible) in the morning, at the same time the test is to be scheduled, in a quiet room in your house with no distractions. Bring a paper bag with snacks, even though youâre in your own home. Donât go to the fridge and turn on the TV during breakâ¦try to feel yourself at the testing center instead of feeling totally comfortable in your own home. The idea is to eventually feel more comfortable at the testing center and these practices should help do that. Of course, study regularly and pace yourself so that you are consistently strengthening your knowledge and test taking skills every day. The only way to climb this mountain is one step at a time. The MCAT is a challenging exam and using these techniques to condition your mind to get accustomed to testing conditions along with keeping its physiology consistent is critical to achieving the score you need. Be sure to stay tuned for more great MCAT Test Prep advice!
How to Succeed in any Math Class
How to Succeed in any Math Class A challenging math class is a veritable rite of passage for students across the world. Working on problem sets late into the night can be frustrating, but most of us who have been through the gauntlet can recall moments of triumph when a particularly tricky concept is understood at last. Here at AJ, it is the mission of our mathematics departments to make our studentsâ first engagements with math as enjoyable and rewarding as they can be. In this article, Iâll discuss some wisdom gleaned from working with hundreds of Bay Area math students.First off, the most critical advice I can give to students is to engage actively with their homework assignments as a means of deepening conceptual understanding and preparing for successful test-taking. Students, parents, and tutors understand that assignments should be completed regularly in order to learn the material effectively. Doing so is essential, but for many students it is ultimately too shallow a level of engagement. You can read mo re about our math tutoring approach here.Students and parents often share that they feel that tests and quizzes do not reflect the difficulty or style of homework problems. Students complete the homework, feel comfortable with the problems, study diligently, yet they walk away from tests feeling blindsided. How can we address this? Here are some tips:Complete assignments regularly and on time. There is no substitute for consistent practice, though I will discuss ways to build upon it.Be aware of what topics you are responsible for knowing. This might sound obvious, but this information creates a list of goals and objectives that can guide learning and test preparation.Think actively about assignments. Teachers assign problems carefullyâ"consider what concepts or skills were tested for each question. Create outlines to address critical thinking questions and word problems, especially harder questions. For example, you might categorize the question based on learning objectives or tec hniques that were required. Take special note of questions that combine multiple concepts.Students frequently feel that test questions are not representative of homework assignments. There are certainly times where students are tested on their problem solving ability and their improvisational skills. However, more often than not it is that the problems have been disguised or modified so that students need to think while working problems rather than relying on rote memorization. Points #3 and #4 above encourage students to apply metacognition to their learning and preparation. It can be difficult to implement points #3 and #4 in practice (especially #4). Generally, students should not attempt these tasks until they are capable of solving the associated problems without assistance.A technique that can help with point #3 is for a student to ask herself, âWhy did my teacher assign these questions?â Ideally, a student can look at a homework problem and say, âThis question is relevan t because. . .â This level of familiarity with questions will improve recall and allow students to work more quickly and efficiently in test scenarios.Point #4 is trickier, but ultimately once a student can comfortably solve a word problem she can begin to consider which parts of the solution are most important in the context of their current chapter or unit. Be careful not to be overly specific. The goal is not to plan solutions entirely in advance but rather to deconstruct hard problems into easier problems and to look for patterns in our solutions. This task should provide students with a foundation of problems that they can solve while allowing the flexibility to adapt to problems that look different. The studentâs teacher is a great resource because teachers, knowing the exams, can indicate which topics to prioritize. The textbook is also an excellent resource as it will often have categorized questions by topic. Additionally, our tutoring team is an excellent resource becau se 1-on-1 tutoring is highly effective in demonstrating, in a customized way, how students can categorize questions or how they can develop plans of attack for tougher questions.AJ can support students and families by modeling the above behaviors in sessions. Our tutors are very experienced and can generally match problems to previously defined categories on the fly. Walking our students through this process will help improve their confidence and their conceptual understanding. We can also help by reminding students that thoughtful engagement with practice material is a long term strategy and will take time to develop.A final piece of advice for math students new and experienced alike: learn to be comfortable even in the face of uncertainty. Itâs easier said than done, of course, but it is an invaluable skill. The strategies listed previously can go a long way.
